Three New Releases That Benefit The Fight For Racial Justice and Help Victims of COVID.

06.04.2020

We’re back from our long slumber with three (!) new releases coming out in the next few months. Each will have very limited physical goods in three formats (cassette, CD, and vinyl) that are handcrafted with unique artwork via our Bandcamp page. With the world the way it is, we’ve decided to donate some of the proceeds to the fight for racial justice and help victims of COVID. See information below on how you can contribute in the description of each release. We hope you are doing well in these times of unrest and that our new music gives you some hope for the future.

As you may know, Bandcamp is waiving their fees for 24 hours on June 5th to support musicians whose wages have been severely cut during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, on June 19th Bandcamp will be donating 100% of our share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to support their work on the fight for racial justice. In spirit of helping both of these causes, we have dropped the price of not only our three NEW releases, but the rest of the entire catalog to $1 to encourage donations. 100% of all digital sales and 25% of all physical sales from our entire catalog between June 4-19 will be donated to racial justice organizations (NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Black Visions Collective) and the MusiCares COVID19 relief fund, depending which new album you buy, or split between them for all others.

Here are the three new releases…enjoy!

Back with their second full-length release, Bocinas follows up Creíamos with an album full of fractured grooves, blurred atmospherics, and Morricone-on-bath-salts guitar punctuation. Fusing gristle and silicon, Todo Está Permitido injects live instrumentation with synths and warped samples, waking up in shadowy corners of sound. Selected tracks feature spoken word from The Long Seventies Podcast (used with permission) and the debut of wretched vocals from Bocinas Prime. Thematically, Todo Está Permitido takes inspiration from the fight for racial justice, writings of Nietzsche, religious cults, and old science fiction movies.

100% of all digital sales and 25% of all physical sales between June 4-19 will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund to fight for racial justice. The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments.

FB024: Revolutionary Cells – Narcotized. The second full-length release from Rev Cells is out on August 15th!

FB024: Revolutionary Cells – Narcotized

For their second full-length album Narcotized, Revolutionary Cells draw on elements of black metal, post punk, krautrock, industrial and prog to create an atmospheric soundtrack for the current state of the nation. Narcotized finds the band moving away from the raw experimentation of previous releases and embracing more complex, textured, and polished compositions. Tracks range from the musical collage opener “Suffusion of Yellow” to the motorik-driven “Here Lies A Promising Old Man” to the Spaghetti Western-inspired “High Steppe Drifter.” Narcotized is loopy, overmedicated mood music, a score for personal and societal unrest that offers some kind of strange hope for the future.

100% of all digital sales and 25% of all physical sales between June 4-19 will be donated to the Black Visions Collective to fight for racial justice. Black Visions Collective (BLVC) believes in a future where all Black people have autonomy, safety is community-led, and we are in right relationship within our ecosystems.

FB025: Sean Von Sleight – Life Under Quarantine. Out on August 25th…the debut album by label head SVS!

FB025: Sean Von Sleight, Life Under Quarantine.

Life Under Quarantine is an ambient soundtrack to the current pandemic, shifting between slow hypnotic pulses and punctuated bursts of panic. The album offers hope and follows the stages of a pandemic: prepare, pandemic, response, recovery. On this release Sean Von Sleight plays the rare Suzuki Waraku Koto Synthesizer that he scored on Ebay back in 2016. This instrument was beautifully designed and encased in exotic wood, with a shape similar to a classic taisho koto (Japanese peacock harp). The synth has 27 keys with 5 string bridges and 4 assignable drum pads, using exotic Japanese traditional instruments like koto, shamisen, shakuhachi, etc. It can be played by holding down one of the keys and plucking the guitar strings that are electrified for a truly unique sound! The album is meant to be played as one long track, but has been broken up for digital format.

For the Fringe Biology Recordings label head, this album is the first recorded under his own name after years of the various recording projects with friends and solo under the guise of Rubber Band Banjo. The album is notable for being the label’s 25th release, celebrating 15 years of noise making.

100% of all digital sales and 25% of all physical sales between June 4-19 will be to the MusiCares COVID19 relief fund. In recent weeks, COVID-19 has devastated our music community, leaving thousands of music creators and professionals without work and an uncertain future. But we have the power to help. The Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable foundation MusiCares® have established the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help our peers in the music community affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
